RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-411

A resolution setting a public hearing on the acceptance of a local law enforcement block grant.

Whereas, a local law enforcement grant from the United States Department of Justice has been made available to the Metropolitan Government; and,

Whereas, an ordinance approving acceptance of said grant has been filed for consideration by the Metropolitan Council; and,

Whereas, the special conditions of the grant award requires a public hearing on the grant prior to the final approval of the Metropolitan Council; and,

Whereas, a legal notice stating the date, time and place of said public hearing must be published in the newspapers for general circulation.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson county:

Section 1. That at the meeting of the Metropolitan Council to be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2000, at 7:00 p.m., in the Metropolitan Council Chamber on the second floor of the Metropolitan Courthouse and City Hall, the Council shall conduct a public hearing relative to the acceptance of the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant from the United States Department of Justice, at which any person or organization desiring to be heard regarding this matter will be afforded such an opportunity.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk be and is hereby directed to have published in the Tennessean, being a newspaper of general circulation in Nashville, Tennessee, legal notice declaring a public hearing will be held at the time and place aforesaid in the manner prescribed by law after approval of said legal notice by the Metropolitan Attorney.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
