RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-410

A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to name the new middle school to be located on the former Grassmere property in honor of Margaret Croft and Elise Croft.

WHEREAS, Resolution No. RS2000-387 provides an amendment to the lease agreement between the Metropolitan Government and the Nashville Zoo, Inc., to permit the removal of eighteen (18) acres of the original Grassmere property donated by Margaret Croft and Elise Croft to the Nashville Children's Museum Association to be utilized for the construction of a new middle school; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that since such property was donated for public purposes that such school be named in honor of Margaret Croft and Elise Croft to recognize their contributions to the Metropolitan Government.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to name the new middle school to be located on the former Grassmere property in honor of Margaret Croft and Elise Croft.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Metropolitan Board of Public Education.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

AMENDMENT NO. 1

TO

RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-410

Mr. President:

I move to amend Resolution No. RS2000-410 by adding the following new Section 2 and renumbering the succeeding sections accordingly:

"Section 2. The council further hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to reserve the name May Werthan Shayne for another new school to be named later."
