RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-408

A resolution recognizing the participants in the 17th Annual International Lineman's Rodeo.

WHEREAS, on Saturday, September 9, 2000, Nashville Electric Service Linemen Dawson Motsinger, Bradley Sanford, Nick Williams, Mike Hinton, David Baker, Mike Butler, Rick Harris, and Don Hunter represented Nashville, Tennessee at the International Lineman's Rodeo in Kansas City; Missouri; and

WHEREAS, each year since 1984, journeyman and apprentice lineman compete in Kansas City to demonstrate their craft and techniques; and

WHEREAS, over 200 utility teams throughout the United States, Canada as well as England and Jamaica participated in this year's competition for a show of skill; and

WHEREAS, 2000 is the first year that Nashville competed at the International competition sending two teams of four to compete in the six timed events, where they finished fifth in one event and scored a perfect 100 points in another; and

WHEREAS, the events include: a pole climb were participants hold a raw egg in their mouths, a hurt-man rescue, "double dead end hot tap, and three mystery events; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize these NES linemen for demonstrating their outstanding skills during competition.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the participants in the 17th Annual International Lineman's Rodeo.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to Nashville Electric Service Linemen Dawson Motsinger, Bradley Sanford, Nick Williams, Mike Hinton, David Baker, Mike Butler, Rick Harris, and Don Hunter.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
