RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-405

A resolution recognizing Big Brothers of Nashville for their ongoing contributions to the community.

WHEREAS, Big Brothers of Nashville was founded in 1912 by J.H. Allison and Montague S. Ross when they voiced their concerns in helping the needy; and

WHEREAS, Big Brothers of Nashville assists needy families and the less fortunate in the communities of Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, without the hundreds of volunteers who have dedicated their time, energy and hard work, along with contributions Big Brothers of Nashville would not be able to give back to the community to those in need; and

WHEREAS, on behalf of Big Brothers of Nashville, Nashville Gas sponsors the "Rudolph's Red Nose Run" where the proceeds of the run benefit the Big Brothers' Energy Fund, which supplements home-heating bills for the underprivileged; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Big Brothers of Nashville for their many contributions and thoughtfulness to the citizens of Davidson County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Big Brothers of Nashville for their ongoing contributions to the community.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of the Resolution to be presented to Big Brothers of Nashville.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
