RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-403

A resolution recognizing Ms. Sarah Twilley as a musician and dancer with an interest in Bluegrass and Traditional music.

WHEREAS, Ms. Sarah Twilley is a seventeen year old senior high school student who attends Hunters Lane High School and a member of the string band, AFS, JROTC and scholars program; and

WHEREAS, Sarah has been competing since the age of seven at Bluegrass Jamborees and conventions competing on to the National, Regional and State levels; and

WHEREAS, Sarah and brother Kyle are the two youngest members of the "Melvin Sloan Dancers" of the Grand Ole Opry dance team and are regular performers on the "Opry"; and

WHEREAS, Sarah's public appearances have included: The Tennessee Outdoorsman, G. Gordon Liddy Show at the Opry House, the Oak Ridge Boys and other various community organizations; and

WHEREAS, in addition to performing, Sarah enjoys creative writing and is a member of her church youth group; and

WHERAS, some of her specific accomplishments and awards include: Grand Champion at the Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree (2000), Bluegrass Along the Harpeth (1999), and a full scholarship from the Mark O'Conner Fiddle Camp; and

WHEREAS, Sarah resides in Hermitage, Tennessee along with her two younger brothers and parents; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize and honor Ms. Sarah Twilley on her outstanding achievements.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring Ms. Sarah Twilley as a musician and dancer with an interest in Bluegrass and Traditional music.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Ms. Sarah Twilley.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
