RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-400

A resolution recognizing Seoung Eui Shin for his outstanding service in the field of Martial Arts.

WHEREAS, a native of Korea, Seoung Eui Shin has been a pioneer in the teaching of Martial Arts discipline in this country; and

WHEREAS, he has spent the past twenty-six years instructing Tae Kwon Do at his studio in Bellevue, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, Seoung Eui Shin's Tae Kwon Do 25th anniversary tournament was recently celebrated; and

WHEREAS, Seoung Eui Shin is a Grand Master in the sport of Tae Kwon Do; and

WHEREAS, several of Grand Master Shin's black-belt students, have gone on to volunteer their time teaching Tae Kwon Do to children at four local schools; and

WHEREAS, Grand Master Shin has instructed many students, by providing Tae Kwon Do as an after school program at Gower Elementary, Mt. View Elementary, Harpeth Valley Elementary and Head Middle School; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Grand Master Shin on his dedication in teaching the art of Tae Kwon Do.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Seoung Eui Shin for his outstanding service in the field of Martial Arts.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Grand Master Seoung Eui Shin.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
