RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-398

A resolution honoring Dr. Jerry L. Maynard for his contributions to the community.

WHEREAS, Dr. Jerry L. Maynard is a native of Indiana were he graduated with studies in Psychology and Social Sciences at Indiana University and the Doctorates Division of Cross Roads Bible College; and

WHEREAS, some of his specific accomplishments while residing in Indiana include serving as Director of the Muncie Indiana Human Rights Commission, on the Indiana and United States Civil Rights Commission and President's Domestic Policy Committee before serving with the Pentecostal Tabernacle Church, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Jerry L. Maynard has served as pastor of Pentecostal Tabernacle Church, Inc. in Nashville since September 5, 1993; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career, Dr. Jerry L. Maynard has promoted entrepreneurship and supports African-American Businesses by assisting those who wish to start their own businesses; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his outstanding faith, Dr. Maynard with his son began a sixty-minute Christian Talk Show "In Perspective" along with receiving numerous awards and honors; and

WHEREAS, it is men like Dr. Jerry L. Maynard who selflessly gives of his time, talents and energy to the community to make it a great place to live, work, and worship; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize and honor Dr. Jerry L. Maynard for his many contributions to the community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring Dr. Jerry L. Maynard for his contributions to the community.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of the Resolution to be presented to Dr. Jerry L. Maynard.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
