RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-397

A resolution recognizing Mrs. Janet Stout for becoming Metropolitan Nashville Middle School Teacher of the Year.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Janet Stout, educator at Cameron Middle School, was recently honored as Middle School Teacher of the Year for the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools of Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Janet Stout began her distinguished career fifteen years ago as an educator in Johnson County, Tennessee, then moved to Davidson County, where she has been inspiring students for seven years in the Metropolitan Public Schools; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Stout, teaches 7th grade social studies and reading at Cameron Middle School, along with sponsoring such student activities as the Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, and Student Council Advisor; and

WHEREAS, she is dedicated to her community, volunteering her Social Studies class in assisting with the annual food drive for the Union Rescue Mission, collecting eyeglasses for the Lion’s Club, assisting Halloween UNICEF project and collecting pennies and helping in various projects at the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital; and

WHEREAS, her dedication to education has repeatedly been recognized with numerous grants and awards, including her acceptance of the Technology Literacy Grant in 1998, 1999 and 2000, a 4-H Environmental Grant, a Nashville Public Education Foundation Mini-Grant, and her selection as recipient of the 2000 Tennessee Association College Teacher of Education National Board Certification Grant; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Mrs. Janet Stout on her hard work, dedication and goal of academic excellence in education.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1.             The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Mrs. Janet Stout for becoming Metropolitan Nashville Middle School Teacher of the Year.

SECTION 2.             The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mrs. Janet Stout.

SECTION 3.             This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
