RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-394

A resolution recognizing November 12-18, 2000, as "American Education Week".

WHEREAS, the week of November 12-18, 2000, has been designated American Education Week by the Metropolitan Nashville Education Association in conjunction with the Metropolitan Board of Public Education; and

WHEREAS, this year 2000, marks the 41st anniversary of the celebration of American Education Week in Nashville, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, the theme for the week is "Children - Schools - Parents Helping Students Achieve", and it is appropriate that during this week the entire community celebrates with those individuals in the field of education for the many achievements and accomplishments throughout the year; and

WHEREAS, during the week, Nashville Public Schools, its students, teachers, parents and administrators will be recognized for their commitment, their dedicated efforts, and their outstanding contributions to the enhancement of public education in Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes November 12-18, 2000, as "American Education Week".

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing November 12-18, 2000, as "American Education Week".

SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
