RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-388

A resolution approving Amendment No. 5 extending the term of the contract with Vanderbilt University for an exposure control consultant for the Department of Fire and Division of Emergency Ambulance and Rescue Service.

Whereas, Ordinance No. 095-16 approved a contract between the Metropolitan Government and Vanderbilt University for an exposure control consultant with expertise in communicable diseases for the benefit of the Department of Fire and its Division of Emergency Ambulance and Rescue Service; and,

Whereas, the services of the exposure control consultant, Dr. Stephen Baffanti have benefited the employees of the Metropolitan Fire Department and the public; and,

Whereas, the contract has previously been amended four (4) times to extend it for terms of one (1) year each; and,

Whereas, the parties have agreed to extend the contract for a term of five (5) years with the compensation of $1,000 per month remaining unchanged; and,

Whereas, the ordinance that approved the last extension of the term, BL99-5, provided that additional amendments could be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council; and,

Whereas, it is in the best interests of the Metropolitan Government to approve this Amendment No. 5.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That Amendment No. 5 to the contract between the Metropolitan Government and Vanderbilt University for an exposure control consultant for the Department of Fire and Division of Emergency Ambulance and Rescue Service, for One Thousand $1,000.00) Dollars per month, which amendment extends the term for five (5) years, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute said amendment.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
