RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-377

A resolution appropriating the amount of $8,800,579 from the General Fund Reserve Fund for the purchase of equipment, and for making improvements to real property for various departments of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and endorsing full funding of the Mayor’s Capital Spending recommendations.

Be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1: There is hereby appropriated the sum of $ 3,562,645 from the General Fund Reserve Fund for the purchase of building repairs to Metro Courthouse for Finance.

Section 2: There is hereby appropriated the sum of $ 2,042,534 from the General Fund Reserve Fund for the purchase of building repairs and radio equipment for General Services.

Section 3: There is hereby appropriated the sum of $ 171,800 from the General Fund Reserve Fund for the purchase of equipment, furniture and fixtures for the Animal Control facility for Health.

Section 4: There is hereby appropriated the sum of $ 1,479,400 from the General Fund Reserve Fund for the purchase of building repairs and books for Libraries.

Section 5: There is hereby appropriated the sum of $ 1,195,000 from the General Fund Reserve Fund for the purchase of building repairs and playground equipment for Parks.

Section 6: There is hereby appropriated the sum of $ 15,000 from the General Fund Reserve Fund for the purchase of replacement boiler at training academy for Police.

Section 7: There is hereby appropriated the sum of $ 169,200 from the General Fund Reserve Fund for the purchase of building repairs for Sheriff.

Section 8: There is hereby appropriated the sum of $ 165,000 from the General Fund Reserve Fund for the purchase of building repairs for Social Services.

Section 9: In addition to the forgoing it is the intent of the Council to fully fund the Capital Spending Recommendations of the Mayor. To achieve that purpose upon a certification of the availability of funds by the Director of Finance, it is the intent of the Council to fund in subsequent resolution the following additional amounts:

(a)the sum of $ 6,437,355 from the General Fund Reserve Fund for the purchase of building repairs to Metro Courthouse for Finance.

(b) the sum of $ 200,000 from the General Services District Fund Balance for life-safety improvements for "Old" Tom Joy School demolition.

(c )the sum of $ 100,000 from the General Services District Fund Balance for Metro-wide deferred maintenance assessment.

(d) the sum of $ 500,000 from the General Services District Fund Balance for a Metro-wide technology plan.

(e) the sum of $ 500,000 from the General Services District Fund Balance for the Parks Department Greenway Master Plan.

Section 14: As required by Ordinance No. 086-1534, information justifying the appropriations is set forth in the "General Fund Reserve Fund (4% Fund) Information Sheets" attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.

Section 15: Where applicable, the Purchasing Agent shall procure the equipment or repairs specified in the attachments in accordance with the established purchasing procedures; provided that purchases of computer equipment and software hereunder shall be based upon a recommendation from the appropriate department and the Director of Information Services.

Section 16: The Director of Finance may schedule acquisitions authorized herein to ensure an appropriate balance in the Fund.

Section 17: This resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
