RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-367

A resolution appropriating $500,000 from the reserve account for affordable housing in the General Fund of the General Services District to the Affordable Housing account in the General Fund of the General Services District for the purpose of funding the Homeownership for Metro Employees (HoME) program for fiscal year 2000-2001.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council appropriated $1,000,000 in the 2000-2001 General Fund of the General Services District designated as a reserve for affordable housing; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County values its employees and wants to encourage them to live in Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, the Homeownership for Metro Employees (HoME) program will provide assistance of up to $5,000 in the form of a second mortgage to be used for a downpayment and closing costs on the purchase of eligible property by eligible Metro employees; and

WHEREAS, A non-profit organization will serve as the HoME program administrator, executing the duties and responsibilities of program operations; and

WHEREAS, Metro Government’s cost to fund the HoME program for fiscal year 2000-2001 is $500,000.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Government hereby appropriates $500,000 from the general fund of the General Services District designated as a reserve account for affordable housing to the Affordable Housing account in the general fund of the General Services District for the purpose of providing a grant to a non-profit to fund and administer the Homeownership for Metro Employees (HoME) program for fiscal year 2000-2001.
