RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-364
A resolution requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to have enacted legislation that would increase pay to jurors.
WHEREAS, service on juries in trial courts is an integral part of the justice system
and causes some hardship to citizens who do serve; and
WHEREAS, the total economic burden of jury service should not be borne by individual jurors; and
WHEREAS, in order to alleviate some of the economic burden, it is appropriate to increase the pay to jurors for their service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to enact legislation that would increase pay for jurors.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Davidson County Delegation.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
