Resolution No. RS2000-331
A resolution honoring the Nashville Kats Football Team.
WHEREAS, the Nashville Kats Football Team has enjoyed unprecedented franchise success in the 2000 season; and
WHEREAS, the Kats marched through their playoff opponents, advancing to ArenaBowl XIV as a fitting finale to their 2000 season; and
WHEREAS, on August 20, 2000, in ArenaBowl XIV in Orlando, Florida the Nashville Kats played the Orlando Predators in the championship game; and
WHEREAS, the Kats ended the season with a record of 12-6, including victories in the playoffs over the Grand Rapids Rampage, Iowa Barnstormers and San Jose SaberCats; and
WHEREAS, owner Mark Bloom and his staff are to be commended for making the commitment to provide Nashville and all of Tennessee with a competitive and winning organization; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Pat Sperduto, together with his assistant coaches, is to be commended for providing the leadership and direction for this most successful season; and
WHEREAS, all of the team members of the Kats are to be applauded for their outstanding effort and performance during this season both on and off the field; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize the 2000 Nashville Kats and coaches on their outstanding season.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring the Nashville Kats Football Team.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Owner Mark Bloom and Head Coach Pat Sperduto on behalf of the team.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
