Resolution No. RS2000-328

A resolution recognizing the following Davidson County 4-H members: Erin Gray, Lori Gray, Marian Wakefield, Brittany Baggett, Ann-Marie Williams, Brittany Cox and Thomas Williams.

WHEREAS, these terrific young members of 4-H participated and represented Davidson County at this year’s State competition; and

WHEREAS, the 2000 State Roundup was held at the University of Tennessee Martin in Tennessee during the week of July 17-21, 2000; and

WHEREAS, 4-H is the youth branch of the Agricultural Extension Service which allows Davidson County youth ages 9-19 to join 4-H and benefit from the learning opportunities offered; and

WHEREAS, Brittany Baggett, with hard work and dedication, was recognized at the Tennessee 4-H Roundup Awards Banquet, Tuesday, July 18^th for being a Level I winner for her economics project and awarded the 4-H Horizon Award which made her eligible for a scholarship; and

WHEREAS, Marian Wakefield was recognized at the Tennessee 4-H Roundup Awards Banquet on Tuesday, July 18^th for being a Level II winner for her Food-Nutrition project where she received a silver tray, the Lee Medallion where she has the opportunity to participate in the National 4-H Congress; and

WHEREAS, Erin Gray is a member of the 4-H Council along with Lori Gray, Marian Wakefield and Thomas Williams; and

WHEREAS, the following 4-H members participated at the state level with their respected projects: Lori Gray - home horticulture; Ann-Marie Williams - foods and nutrition; Brittany Cox – safety; and Thomas Williams in the State 4-H All-Star Conference; and

WHEREAS, Lelan Statom won the State 4-H Alumni Award which was announced at the State 4-H Congress; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize and commend each participant in the 4-H state competition for their outstanding accomplishments.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the following Davidson County 4-H members Erin Gray, Lori Gray, Marian Wakefield, Brittany Baggett, Ann-Marie Williams, Brittany Cox and Thomas Williams.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to Erin Gray, Lori Gray, Marian Wakefield, Brittany Baggett, Ann-Marie Williams, Brittany Cox and Thomas Williams and Leland Statom.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
