Resolution No. RS2000-326
A resolution recognizing Mr. Don McGehee for his volunteer work in the community and the Metropolitan School system.
WHEREAS, Mr. McGehee for the last six years has been a volunteer at Ross Elementary and Buena Vista Jones Paideia; and
WHEREAS, he has provide excellent leadership to over six hundred students each year, teaching honesty, hard work and perseverance; and
WHEREAS, Mr. McGehee is the founder of "I Am Somebody" a charter education program that builds students confidence and self-esteem currently in operation at both Ross Elementary and Buena Vista Jones Paideia; and
WHEREAS, he worked with the YMCA for more than fifty years and as a volunteer making a difference in the lives of inner-city children; and
WHEREAS, throughout his career Mr. McGehee has devoted countless hours as a positive role model to students; and
WEHREAS, it is men like Don McGehee who selflessly give of their time, talents and energy who make a difference in the lives of not only children but all ages; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Mr. McGehee as a true volunteer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Mr. Don McGehee for his volunteer work in the community and the Metropolitan School system.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Don McGehee.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
