Resolution No. RS2000-325

A resolution honoring Winford E. and Maria Umboh Nance.

WHEREAS, Winford E. and Maria Nance, brought African American and Indonesian cultures together through twenty-five years of devoted marriage; and

WHEREAS, Winford E. and Maria Nance demonstrated strong parenting skills which have impacted so positively on their son Carleton; and

WHEREAS, their son Carleton, when in the seventh grade, was provided the opportunity to study at Duke University’s summer program; and

WHEREAS, the positive influence of Winford E. and Maria Nance will long be remembered by the manner in which multicultural appreciation is exemplified through their lives; and

WHEREAS, the dedication, patience, wisdom, and understanding that they demonstrate on a daily basis have provided a firm foundation; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council express their gratitude to Winford E. and Maria Nance on this joyous occasion of twenty-five years of marriage and extend our very best wishes for continued health and happiness.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring Winford E. and Maria Umboh Nance.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Winford E. and Maria Nance.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
