Resolution No. RS2000-323

A resolution honoring Leighton Bush, Sr. upon his retirement from the Metropolitan Benefit Board.

WHEREAS, in January of 1990, Leighton Bush Sr., began his career with the Metropolitan Benefit Board being appointed to this position by former Mayor Bill Boner; and

WHEREAS, on June 30, 2000, Leighton Bush Sr., retired from the Metropolitan Benefit Board after 10½ years of faithful and dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bush served as chairman of the Metropolitan Benefit Board five times and as the Investment Board chairman four times; and

WHEREAS, endowed with an independent and entrepreneurial spirit, Mr. Bush has owned and operated his own business Bush Insurance Co.; and

WHEREAS, some of his specific accomplishments include: President for the Nashville Jaycees and Holy Rosary School Board; member of the Downtown and Donelson-Hermitage chambers; chairman of the Tennessee Aviation Days Air Show; former chairman of the Donelson-Hermitage YMCA and board member of the Middle Tennessee YMCA; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bush recently received the Exchange Club Book of Golden Deeds award and the 2000 Donelson-Hermitage Rotary Club Rotarian of the Year; and

WHEREAS, it is men like Mr. Bush who selflessly gives of his time, talents, energy and his management knowledge to civic, community and service organizations; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Mr. Leighton Bush Sr., for his contributions to the citizens of Davidson County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring Leighton Bush, Sr. upon his retirement from the Metropolitan Benefit Board.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Leighton Bush, Sr.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
