Resolution No. RS2000-321
A resolution recognizing Chief Norman "Buck" Dozier upon his resignation from the Metropolitan Fire Department.
WHEREAS, on July 31, 2000, Chief Norman "Buck" Dozier resigned from the Metropolitan Fire Department after six years of faithful and dedicated service to his employees, colleagues and the citizens of Davidson County; and
WHEREAS, in January of 1994, Chief Buck Dozier, began his career as Fire Chief of the Metropolitan Fire Department being appointed to this position by former Mayor Philip Bredesen; and
WHEREAS, Chief Dozier served as a Metro Councilman from 1987 to 1992, before becoming Mayor Bredesens legislative liaison and then being appointed as Fire Chief; and
WHEREAS, Chief Doziers tenure as chief ranks among the longest in the Metro Fire Departments history; and
WHEREAS, Chief Dozier was very instrumental in bringing accreditation status to the Metropolitan Fire Department in August of 1999; and
WHEREAS, Chief Dozier answered the bell in fires and emergencies, provided leadership, and guided the department successfully into the new century; and
WHEREAS, Chief Dozier served as a former high school teacher and coach; and
WHEREAS, Chief Dozier is a former Family Life Minister and Youth Minister at Madison Church of Christ; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Chief Buck Dozier on his outstanding work ethics.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Chief Norman "Buck" Dozier upon his resignation from the Metropolitan Fire Department.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a printed scroll to be presented to Chief Norman "Buck" Dozier.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
