Resolution No. RS2000-300

A Resolution requesting Nashville Electric Service to provide public service announcements on radio and television that disclose areas of Metropolitan Government without electric power and the expected duration of such outages.

WHEREAS, during summer and winter storms various communities and neighborhoods experience loss of electric power which causes disruption to residences and businesses; and

WHEREAS, it would assist the residents of Metropolitan Government if Nashville Electric Service would provide public service announcements on radio and television broadcasts stating those areas without electric power and the expected duration of such outages.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby requests that the Nashville Electric Service provide public service announcements on radio and television that disclose areas of Metropolitan Government without electric power and the expected duration of such outages. Nashville Electric Service is also requested to provide for such announcements in advance of any planned power outages so as to adequately warn communities and neighborhoods.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the members of the Electric Power Board of Metropolitan Government.

SECTION 3. That the Nashville Electric Service is further requested to inform the Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 hereof not later than thirty (30) days after the adoption of this Resolution.

SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
