RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-270

A resolution recognizing the U11 Lady Hurricanes Girls Soccer Team.

WHEREAS, the U11 Lady Hurricanes girls’ soccer team is compiled of young ladies under the age of 11 years old and primarily residents of the West Nashville/Green Hills area; and

WHEREAS, although this soccer team has been together for approximately two years the have come together to establish and maintain a proud tradition of excellence in girls’ soccer; and

WHEREAS, while outscoring their opponents 23-2 the Hurricanes swept through the two day state playoffs in Smyrna, Tennessee, with a perfect 5-0 record culminating in a dramatic 1-0 win over the Knoxville Falcons in the championship game; and

WHEREAS, the team was led by Head Coaches Ken and Sherrie Wills, Micha Douthit, and members of the talented team are Chelsea Keyser, Ebeth Ockerman, Maggie McCain, Kendra Wills, Kate Woodard, Mollye Dietrich, Rachel Johnson, Lyndsey Almon, Alex Nunnally, Polly Shepard, Kristi Ensminger, Lauren Riegle, Katherine Bearden, Shelby Meador, Marci Levy, Emily Canady, and Carrier McDonald; and

WHEREAS, this magnificent team performed with precision during the State Soccer Tournament and earned its well-deserved reputation for high standards of athletic achievement and stiff competition which it presented its opponents; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize and honor this remarkable team and coaches on there outstanding state playoff run.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the U11 Lady Hurricanes Girls Soccer Team.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of the Resolution to be presented to the coaching staff and each member of the team.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
