Resolution No. RS2000-267

A resolution recognizing Ms. Denise Anne Walsh on receiving the 1999 Telecommunicator of the Year Award for the Communications Division of the Metropolitan Police Department.

WHEREAS, on Thursday, April 27, 2000, Ms. Walsh, an employee in the Communications Division of the Metropolitan Police Department since 1987, received the Telecommunicator; and

WHEREAS, this award is given to an employee of the Communications Division who demonstrates a positive attitude toward all aspects of the job, demonstrates flexibility in task assignments and capabilities, understands the knowledge of her profession, demonstrates clarity and quality of voice communication via telephone and radio, performs above and beyond the call of duty, and compassionate in the day-to-day dealings with the public; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Walsh, also works in the elementary schools with the "Rescue Rex" Education Awareness Program, that teaches them about police and fire safety; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Walsh designed a step-by-step MSV workstation to assist her fellow employees in accomplishing job assignments, compiled a list of every mile marker on the interstates and what they were close to in order to process a citizen’s call for help faster, along with many other unselfish deeds; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Walsh has been instrumental in making suggestions to start our present training program, and is one of the first trainers to be appointed; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her many facets within the department, Ms. Walsh has devoted countless hours helping victims of crimes and fires and by donating clothes, toiletries, etc., to domestic violence units/fire victims; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Walsh continues to help families which she has a long-time tradition of collecting toys, clothes, etc., for children who otherwise would not have a Christmas; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Denise Anne Walsh on her countless hours of dedication to both her job and her community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Ms. Denise Anne Walsh on receiving the 1999 Telecommunicator of the Year Award for the Communications Division of the Metropolitan Police Department.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Denise Anne Walsh.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
