Resolution No. RS2000-260

A resolution recognizing Jennifer Smoot on being named Metropolitan Nashville Public School "Teacher of the Year" for 2000-01.

WHEREAS, Jennifer Smoot was recently honored as "Teacher of the Year" for the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Smoot, a native Tennessean, is well deserving of this honor for her outstanding teaching ability of our youngest students; and

WHEREAS, this highly respected Kindergarten teacher has served with honor and distinction as a professional educator in the Public School System since 1991 as a teacher at Old Center School; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Smoot’s excellent repertoire of teaching strategies, creativity, innovation, and vision have been invaluable assets for the school system; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Smoot is involved with the PENCIL Partners program, serves on committees at the school and has involved herself with various community service activities; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Smoot selflessly gives of her time, talent, and leadership to other faculty members and brings enthusiasm and energy to her students; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Mrs. Jennifer Smoot for her dedication, commitment, and superior ability to teach and inspire in students a love of learning.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Jennifer Smoot on being named Metropolitan Nashville Public School "Teacher of the Year" for 2000-01.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mrs. Jennifer Smoot.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
