Resolution No. RS2000-259

A resolution recognizing Sammye Woods upon her resignation from service with the Metropolitan Taxicab and Wrecker Licensing Board.

WHEREAS, on June 30, 2000, Sammye Woods resigned from the Metropolitan Taxicab and Wrecker Licensing Board after three years of faithful and dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, in September of 1997, Ms. Woods, became Director of the Metropolitan Taxicab and Wrecker Licensing Board after leaving a distinguished career working more than fifteen years with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA); and

WHEREAS, Sammye Woods is a resident of Nashville, whose outstanding and selfless deeds of service have been beneficial to the Metropolitan Government; and

WHEREAS, she was instrumental in the creation of a new Taxicab Ordinance as well as the new Wrecker Ordinance; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career Ms. Woods has provided leadership to her fellow colleagues, and has worked diligently on several major projects; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Woods is a member of the International Association of Transportation Regulators and a driving force in getting the convention to hold their annual conference here in Nashville in November of 2000; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Woods participated in the Inaugural Country Music Marathon and is generous with her time and energy in the community and her church; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council honor Sammye Woods for her outstanding contributions to the Taxicab and Wrecker Licensing Board and to the citizens of Davidson County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Sammye Woods upon her resignation from service with the Metropolitan Taxicab and Wrecker Licensing Board.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a Resolution to be presented to Sammye Woods.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
