RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-254

A resolution recognizing Douglas Henry.

WHEREAS, Douglas Henry was born in 1926, in Nashville Tennessee he attended school in Nashville and Chattanooga, received his law degree from Vanderbilt University, is a member of the Nashville and American Bar Association and of the Association of Life Insurance Counsels; and

WHEREAS, not only is Douglas Henry a lawmaker, but a lawyer who continues to maintain an interest in senior citizens and issues that impact them; and

WHEREAS, he also is a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion, is active and involved in the community; and

WHEREAS, Douglas Henry is currently State Senator for the 21st Senatorial District of Tennessee, Chair of Finance, Ways and Means Committee serves on the Ethics Committee, past chairman of Southern Legislative Conference, has severed on several organizations/boards in many capacities in his decades of public service, and has long been a vocal supporter of legislation for Home and Community Based Care for seniors and the disabled; and

WHEREAS, Douglas Henry exemplifies the Renaissance man, he has a passion for history, great respect for Thomas Jefferson and Robert E. Lee, enjoys traveling; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Douglas Henry as a true gentleman and scholar.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Douglas Henry.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Douglas Henry.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
