RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-231
A resolution requesting the Mayor and the Metropolitan Transit Authority to determine the feasibility of providing modular newspaper racks in the downtown Nashville business area and other appropriate locations.
WHEREAS, as the Metropolitan Transit Authority presently maintains bus benches along its various routes within the area of the Metropolitan Government, it may be fitting and proper that they provide modular newspaper racks to relieve congestion on sidewalks and to promote aesthetics.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Mayor and the Metropolitan Transit Authority to determine the feasibility of providing modular newspaper racks in the downtown Nashville business area and other appropriate locations.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Mayor, to members of the Metropolitan Transit Authority Board, and to the executive director of the Metropolitan Transit Authority.
SECTION 3. That the Mayor and the Metropolitan Transit Authority Board are further requested to inform The Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 hereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.
SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
