RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-217

A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to appropriately recognize Mr. Jimmy Edwards, former principal of Donelson High School, at the Donelson Middle School campus.

WHEREAS, Mr. Jimmy Edwards served 19 years at the former Donelson High School; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Edwards served as principal of Cumberland High School, DuPont High School, Donelson High School, and Antioch High School; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Edwards fostered and maintained a stable learning environment for students, faculty and the community within the public school system for some 40 years; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the Metropolitan Board of Public Education take steps necessary to appropriately recognize the contributions of Mr. Jimmy Edwards on the campus of Donelson Middle School.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Board of Public Education to appropriately recognize Mr. Jimmy Edwards, former principal of Donelson High School, at the Donelson Middle School campus.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Metropolitan Board of Public Education.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
