RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-216
A resolution requesting the Davidson County delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to enact appropriate state legislation to enable the Metropolitan Government to consolidate its various closed pension plans, subject to necessary Charter amendments.
WHEREAS, in order to benefit the various closed pension plans of the Metropolitan Government, including those of the Metropolitan Board of Public Education, it may be necessary to have enabling legislation adopted by the Tennessee General Assembly; and
WHEREAS, such legislation should not, however, in any way amend or supersede the Charter of the Metropolitan Government; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan County Council request the Davidson County delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to enact the necessary legislation, to the extent deemed necessary, to enable the Metropolitan Government to consolidate its closed pension plans.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to enact appropriate state legislation to enable the Metropolitan Government to consolidate its various closed pension plans, subject to necessary Charter amendments.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Davidson County Delegation.
SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
