RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-210

A resolution recognizing the 2000 Hillsboro High School Bill of Rights Team.

WHEREAS, in December of 1999, sponsor Mary Catherine Bradshaw, of Hillsboro High School led her team in winning the District level Bill of Rights Competition; and

WHEREAS, upon winning the District competition they were afforded the opportunity to compete on Friday, February 4, 2000, at the State level Bill of Rights Competition where the came away with the victory; and

WHEREAS, both the District and State level Bill of Rights Competition were sponsored by The Center For Civic Education and The United States Department of Education; and

WHEREAS, these students all juniors will represent the State of Tennessee at the National competition in Washington, D.C. being held May 5 through May 9, 2000; and

WHEREAS, Hillsboro High School has an outstanding tradition in academic performance, work ability, dedication, unity and spirit shown by each member of the team throughout the competitions; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize these fine young students from Hillsboro High school on their achievements at each level of competition.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the 2000 Hillsboro High School Bill of Rights Team.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to teacher Mary Catherine Bradshaw and each member of the Bill of Rights Team.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
