RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-206

A resolution honoring William K. "Trey" Nelms on receiving the "Employee of the Year" and the "Trotter/Neely Award" for the Metropolitan Fire Department for 1999.

WHEREAS, Mr. Nelms received "Employee of the Year" for his outstanding work and dedication; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Nelms received the 1999 Trotter/Neely Award from the Metropolitan Fire Department which is in honor of retired Fire Chiefs "Moon" Trotter and Frank Neely, who supervised Nashville's Fire/EMS Communications for many years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Nelms is a dedicated employee and has received many accomplishments which include his work to write and produce a unique training video for Fire communications personnel; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Nelms is also representing Nashville on a national panel which is creating a communications pre-arrival protocol for fire and hazardous material incidents; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Nelms has been a member of the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department for six years, serving in the Communications Division, where he plays a vital role in the handling and prioritizing of both emergency and non-emergency calls; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council hereby goes on honoring William K. "Trey" Nelms for his outstanding contributions individually and collectively.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring William K. "Trey" Nelms on receiving "Employee of the Year" and the "Trotter/Neely Award" for 1999.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to William K. "Trey" Nelms.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
