RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-204

A resolution recognizing Ms. Mary Cooper.

WHEREAS, Mary Cooper, was a driving force behind Miriam’s Promise, where she served as a cheerleader, a dedicated volunteer, a leader but most importantly, a friend; and

WHEREAS, Miriam’s Promise is a volunteer support organization that ministers to pregnancy clients and their families, birthparents, and adoptive families; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Cooper was employed as a Legal Assistant with Farris, Warfield & Kanaday for over thirty-four years prior to her retirement in 1994, working extensively with independent adoptions, adoptive families and birthparents; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career as a Legal Assistant Ms. Cooper, always made time for her community. She was a tireless volunteer, and encouraged, led, and helped so many people with many projects in the community selflessly giving of her time, talents and energy; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Cooper is a devoted and active member of Glendale United Methodist Church, serving as a leader in worship, finance, administration and many other ways; and

WHEREAS, Mary Cooper has been a truly dedicated individual, and it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Ms. Cooper for her services.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Ms. Mary Cooper.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to Ms. Mary Cooper.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
