RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-202
A resolution honoring Rachel Sarah Bloomekatz upon her outstanding service to her school and to her community.
WHEREAS, every so often, a young person comes along whose abilities and character are so outstanding that it seems proper and appropriate to take the time to recognize that individual in a formal way; and
WHEREAS, Rachel Sarah Bloomekatz is one such individual, having demonstrated, through her efforts on behalf of the young people of this community, a real ability to make a difference in Nashville; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Bloomekatz played an integral part in the creation and establishment of PULSE Day, an event organized in conjunction with the Oasis Center that encourages young people in Nashville to take an active role in improving the quality of life in our community; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Bloomekatz currently serves as President of Interhigh, an organization that links and provides the means for open communication between the high schools of Nashville; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Bloomekatz currently serves as Head of the Mayor's Youth Council which is made up of high school leaders from across the City who have the responsibility of communicating directly with the Mayor on the concerns of young people in Nashville; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Bloomekatz recently was elected to serve as Speaker pro tem of the Tennessee State Youth Legislature; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Bloomekatz was recently selected by Tennessee's two United States Senators as one of only two delegates from Tennessee to participate on the United States Youth Senate Conference in Washington; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Bloomekatz will graduate in May from Hillsboro High School as the valedictorian of her class; and
WHEREAS, this City should be proud that it has a citizen such as Rachel Bloomekatz that has used her abilities for the good of her community and whose future is bright and unlimited; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting for the Metropolitan Council to honor Rachel Sarah Bloomekatz for her work on behalf of the citizens of the City of Nashville and to wish her success as she graduates from Hillsboro High School.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring Rachel Sarah Bloomekatz upon her outstanding service to her school and to her community.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to Ms. Rachel Sarah Bloomekatz.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
