RESOLUTION NO. RS2000- 173

A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Department of Law to compromise and settle the claim of William H. Gibbs, Jr., against the Metropolitan Government in the amount of seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500.00) to be paid from the Self Insured Liability Fund.

Whereas, on January 13, 1998, William H. Gibbs, Jr. was involved in a collision with a vehicle owned by The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and driven by a Metropolitan Government employee during the course and scope of his employment; and

Whereas, a suit was filed by William H. Gibbs, Jr., in the Circuit Court for the personal injuries sustained in the accident; and

Whereas, it is the belief of the Department of Law that this settlement as listed in Section 1 is fair and reasonable and recommends that the case be compromised and settled and that the amount of $7,500.00 be paid from the Self Insured Liability Fund.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that:

Section 1: The Department of Law is authorized to compromise and settle the suit of William H. Gibbs, Jr., v. Ralph N. Griggers, et al., No. 99C-85, in the amount of $7,500.00, and said amount is to be paid from the Self Insured Liability Fund.

Section 2: This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
