RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-156
A resolution honoring Ronald M. Parkinson upon his retirement from service with the Metropolitan Traffic and Parking Commission.
WHEREAS, Mr. Parkinson is a distinguished resident of Nashville, whose outstanding and selfless deeds of service have been beneficial to the entire community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Parkinson, retired on December 31, 1999, after serving thirty-five years with the Traffic and Parking Commission; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Parkinson was first appointed to the Traffic and Parking Commission in 1963 under the administration of Mayor Ben West; and
WHEREAS, his accomplishments have included everything from meter operations, parking complaints, development of parking lot layouts, and the construction of the Metro Justice Center and Church Street Plaza parking garages; and
WHEREAS, throughout his career Mr. Parkinson has provided continual guidance, has worked to develop Rules and Policies for the betterment of Metro and exemplifies extraordinary leadership; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring Mr. Parkinson for his outstanding contributions individually and collectively to the Traffic and Parking Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring Ronald Parkinson upon his retirement from service with the Metropolitan Traffic and Parking Commission.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a printed scroll to be presented to Ronald Parkinson.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
