RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-136

A resolution requesting operators of surface parking lots to require that their attendants wear identifying clothing or uniforms.

WHEREAS, there are numerous surface parking lots in areas of the Metropolitan Government, especially in the immediate downtown area; and

WHEREAS, especially on days and evenings when there are special events, the surface parking lots have attendants on duty who collect parking charges; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that such employees collecting parking charges wear clothing, or some other form of identification, that clearly identifies that they are employees of or agents of the surface parking facility operator, so as to inform the public that they are paying the parking charges to the appropriate person and not to some unauthorized person.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting operators of surface parking lots to require that parking attendants wear identifying clothing, uniforms, or identification badges.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the operators of Central Parking System, Town Park, Classified Parking of Tennessee, and Standard Parking.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
