RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-104

A resolution honoring WKRN-Channel 2 photographer Joe Gregory for his outstanding act of heroism.

WHEREAS, on Tuesday, December 7, 1999, twenty-year WKRN-Channel 2 photographer Joe Gregory, without thought for his own personal safety, risked his life to help others; and

WHEREAS, on his way to an assignment with his fellow reporter, he noticed smoke coming from the Crestview Apartments; and

WHEREAS, realizing that help had not arrived, without hesitation he jumped out of his vehicle and proceeded to rescue a burned and disoriented women and her 18-month-old daughter from the door of their fiery apartment; and

WHEREAS, due to photographer Gregory’s heroism, courageousness, unselfishness, and loyalty, the two survived the fire; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize and honor Mr. Joe Gregory for his outstanding act of heroism.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as honoring WKRN-Channel 2 photographer Joe Gregory for his outstanding act of heroism.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to photographer Joe Gregory.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
