RESOLUTION NO. RS2000-100

A resolution honoring Ernest W. "Bill" Colbert.

WHEREAS, on Thursday, August 26, 1999, in Nashville, Tennessee, Colemill Enterprises founder and president Ernest W. Colbert, received the 1999 Award of Excellence for Career Contributions to Aviation; and

WHEREAS, in making the presentation Mr. John Baugh, Chairman of the Tennessee Aeronautics Commission, cited Colbert’s long association with general aviation that began in 1941, when he bought his first airplane and continues to this day; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Colbert founded Colemill Enterprises in 1944 in Nashville, where they have been in business at the same place and under the same management; and

WHEREAS, Colemill Enterprises has grown from a small company providing flight school, charter service and aircraft maintenance services to the world’s largest aircraft modification company; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Ernest W. "Bill" Colbert for his many contributions to the field of Aeronautics.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as honoring Ernest W. "Bill" Colbert.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to Ernest W. "Bill" Colbert for this honor.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
