SUBSTITUTE RESOLUTION NO. RS99-55
A substitute resolution requesting Nashville Electric Service to consider an incremental stage increase of the reconnection fee for customers disconnected from service for lack of payment, if such fee is increased.
WHEREAS, Nashville Electric Service is considering an increase in the reconnection fee for those customers who have had their service disconnected for non-payment; and
WHEREAS, although such fees are necessary to cover some of the costs of Nashville Electric Service to reconnect service, such increase may pose a hardship on persons already financially stressed, as evidenced by their failure to make payment on their electric power bill.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting Nashville Electric Service to consider an incremental stage increase of the reconnection fee for customers disconnected from service for lack of payment, if such fee is increased.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Metropolitan Electric Power Board.
SECTION 3. That the Electric Power Board is further requested to inform the Metropolitan Council of the feasibility and/or the actions taken in compliance with the request contained in Section 1 hereof, not later than sixty (60) days after the adoption of this Resolution.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
