SUBSTITUTE RESOLUTION NO. SR99-1389

A substitute resolution requesting the Director of Metro Public Works and the Vice-Mayor to appoint a special committee to conduct a comprehensive review of the Storm Water Management Program of the Department of Public Works.

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Director of Metro Public Works and the Vice-Mayor appoint a special committee to conduct an expeditious and comprehensive review of the Storm Water Management Program of the Department of Public Works; and

WHEREAS, said committee should submit their report and any recommendations it may have concerning improvements of this program to the Director of Public Works, with copies to the Mayor and the Metropolitan Council.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Director of Metro Public Works and the Vice-Mayor are hereby requested to appoint a special committee to conduct an expeditious and comprehensive review of the Storm Water Management Program of the Department of Public Works. Such review will include consideration of water quality, water quantity, cut and fill policy, detention policy, Greenways, land conservation, floodplain preservation, and hazard mitigation. Said committee should be composed of a wide diverse membership of the citizens of the community, and said committee membership shall not exceed fifteen (15) members, eight (8) of which shall be appointed by the Director of Public Works and seven (7) of which shall be appointed by the Vice-Mayor.

SECTION 2. Said committee, after its appointment, shall report its findings to the Director of Public Works, which report shall be submitted to the Public Works Committee of the Metropolitan Council for review and, thereafter, to the Mayor and to the entire Council not later than June 1, 1999.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
