SUBSTITUTE RESOLUTION NO. SR99-1388
A substitute resolution expressing appreciation to the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association on their decision to continue to hold the Tennessee High School Football Championships at the Clinic bowl in Nashville, Tennessee.
WHEREAS, the Clinic Bowl has been produced by the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce since 1949; and
WHEREAS, Vanderbilt University in Nashville has served as the host of the Clinic Bowl through a partnership with the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce (NAJCC); and
WHEREAS, the proceeds from the Clinic Bowl helped to fund the establishment and continues to help fund the operation of a physical therapy clinic at Vanderbilt University, as well as the operation of physical therapy clinics throughout the State of Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, since 1982 the Clinic Bowl, Vanderbilt University, and the City of Nashville have been the hosts of the Tennessee High School Football Championships sponsored by the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association (TSSAA); and
WHEREAS, 1999 will mark the 50th Anniversary of the Clinic Bowl; and
WHEREAS, the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce and Vanderbilt University expressed the desire for the Clinic Bowl to continue to host the Tennessee High School Football Championships on the campus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, the TSSAA has decided to continue to hold the state high school football championship at the Clinic Bowl in Nashville.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby expresses its appreciation to the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association for continuing to stage the State High School Football Championships at the Clinic Bowl in the City of Nashville.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
