SUBSTITUTE RESOLUTION NO. R98-1282

A resolution approving an amendment to a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Military, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County acting through Metropolitan Fire Department for arson prevention.

 Whereas, the State of Tennessee, Department of Military, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, has awarded Grant No. 98-07823-00 for fiscal year 1997-98 in an amount not to exceed Ten Thousand dollars ($10,000) to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Fire Department for arson prevention, and such grant was approved and accepted by the Metropolitan Council by ordinance (Bill No. 097-928); and

Whereas, said grant award was amended increasing the grant amount to sixteen thousand dollars ($16,000) which amendment was approved by the Metropolitan Council by resolution R98-1179; and

Whereas, the parties, wish to amend the grant contract by amending paragraph B.1 to extend the grant term to September 30, 1999; and

Whereas, Bill No. 097-928 provided that amendments to the Grant may be approved by Resolution by the Metropolitan Council that receives at least twenty-one affirmative votes; and

Whereas, it is deemed to be in the best interest of The Metropolitan Government that this amendment to the contract be approved.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government Of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the Amendment to Grant No. GG-98-07823-00 by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Military and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting through the Metropolitan Fire Department which amendment extends the grant term to September 30, 1999, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
