ADOPTED 08/17/1999

RESOLUTION NO. R99-1666

A resolution honoring Mr. Case White on the occasion of becoming an Eagle Scout.

WHEREAS, Mr. Case White, age sixteen, met all the strenuous and demanding requirements of becoming an Eagle Scout and was awarded the honor on April 29, 1999; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Case White, while born with spina bifida, courageously declined to accept the opportunity to apply for alternate merit badges and, instead, forthrightly faced the challenges to meet the same merit badge requirements of other Eagle Scouts; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Case White, through his solid preparation and strong personal perservance, earned his physical merit badge in swimming at Camp Manchester; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Case White's Eagle project was chosen to benefit the Saddle Up! riding program for physically and mentally challenged children in Middle Tennessee. He chose to pour a concrete sidewalk for the wheelchair ramp at Saddle Up! headquarters after seeing the difficulty wheelchair-bound children experience in maneuvering in high grass; and

WHEREAS, through Mr. Case White's efforts, more children are able to experience the excitement of riding on the back of a horse.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That Mr. Case White be officially honored and congratulated for his tenacity, talents, and will-power in earning Eagle Scout recognition under difficult and demanding physical and mental circumstances.

SECTION 2. That his family and scouting friends be thanked for their support of Mr. Case White in his pursuit of meeting the Eagle Scout requirements.

SECTION 3. That Mr. Case White be extended best wishes for continued success in his future endeavors.

SECTION 4. That an appropriate scroll be prepared for presentation to Mr. Case White in recognition of his achievements.

SECTION 5. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
