RESOLUTION NO. R99-1630

A resolution approving a one year contract between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County acting by and through the Metropolitan Department of Health with the State of Tennessee, Department of Health for laboratory services for testing for particulate matter and environmental testing.

Whereas, the standards for clean air are mandated by the Federal Government under the Clean Air Act; and

Whereas, the Clean Air Act requires that local governments maintain a specific level of clean air determined by the particulate matter in the air; and

Whereas, to comply with the Clean Air Act local governments need to test for particulate matter using a licensed testing facility.

Whereas, the State Department of Health is licensed by the Federal Government as an air testing facility; and

Now therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the contract beginning July 1, 1999 and ending June 30, 2000 by and between the Metropolitan Government acting by and through the Metropolitan Department of Health and the State of Tennessee, Department of Health to perform laboratory services to conduct testing for particulate matter and environmental testing at a rate of $24 per test, a copy of which is attached hereto is hereby approved.

Section 2. That any amendments to this contract shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
