RESOLUTION NO. R99-1540
A resolution requesting the State Department of Transportation to erect sound barrier walls on both sides of I-65, from Old Hickory Boulevard south to Due West, during its planned improvements program.
WHEREAS, the State Department of Transportation has announced its intent to fund road construction on I-65 by improving I-65 north of downtown Nashville; and
WHEREAS, numerous residential areas, hospitals and other activities will be abutting this new widened and reconstructed area of I-65; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that sound barriers be erected during this road construction project to minimize noise to the adjacent properties.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the State Department of Transportation to erect sound barrier walls on both sides of I-65, from Old Hickory Boulevard south to Due West, during its planned improvement program.
SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Commissioner of the State Department of Transportation.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
