RESOLUTION NO. R99-1538

A resolution honoring Happy Birdsong upon her retirement.

WHEREAS, Happy Birdsong served over 10 years with the Metropolitan Nashville Beatification Commission and a member of the 9th District Beautification Committee for 2 years; and

WHEREAS, Happy Birdsong has served over 15 years on the Beautification Committee of the Madison Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Happy Birdsong is a member of the McGavock Community Education Committee for over 24 years, Cheatham County Chamber of Commerce for 11 years, Donelson Hermitage Chamber of Commerce for 10 years and served on the Steering Committee for Nashville Night Out Against Crime for the past 3 years; and

WHEREAS, Happy Birdsong's patriotism is evident by her 26 years of assisting the State Veteran Affairs Department through her involvement with the Donelson VFW Post, coordinating Girl Scouts with the annual Veteran's Day Parade and overseeing Girl Scouts posting flags at the two National Cemeteries; and

WHEREAS, Happy Birdsong has been involved with the Boy Scouts of America for 35 years, PTA Officer in various schools, member of the Sertoma Club for 4 years, involved with the Nashville Agenda for 5 years; and recently received her 50 year pin from Girl Scouts of Cumberland Valley; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Council honor Happy Birdsong for the many hours she has given in beautifying Nashville and for her service to the Nashville community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. The Metropolitan County Council goes on record as honoring Happy Birdsong upon her retirement.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council is requested to prepare a certificate to be presented to Happy Birdsong.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
