RESOLUTION NO. R99-1537
A resolution honoring Doctor Reginald Mazeres upon his retirement as Professor of Mathematics at Tennessee Technological University.
WHEREAS, Dr. Reginald Mazeres will retire this Spring after over forty years of teaching mathematics at the university level; and
WHEREAS, Doctor Mazeres received his Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, and his Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in mathematics from Auburn University; and
WHEREAS, Doctor Mazeres has distinguished himself professionally as an excellent classroom instructor at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; and
WHEREAS, Doctor Mazeres has further distinguished himself professionally by developing new courses, directing student research, serving on dissertation and thesis committees, and presenting numerous advanced papers and lectures on mathematics-related topics; and
WHEREAS, Doctor Mazeres has provided distinguished leadership on the Tennessee Tech campus, as well as in the Cookeville community, particularly as Rotary Club President, Heart Fund Captain, Little League Chairman and Coach, Chairman of Techs committee to establish an Honors program, Library Week Chairman, PTA President, and many other capacities; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council honor Doctor Reginald Mazeres upon his retirement from Tennessee Technological University and for his outstanding contributions to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as commending Doctor Reginald Mazeres for his lifetime of exemplary service in the teaching profession, and extends to him best wishes for good health, happiness and success during his retirement years.
SECTION 2. Doctor Mazeres is hereby extended deep gratitude for his excellent instructional and research methodology (including patience) in working with over four decades of students from Nashville and Davidson County, from throughout Tennessee, from across the nation, and around the world.
SECTION 3. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare an official certificate to be presented to Doctor Reginald Mazeres at an appropriate place and time.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
