RESOLUTION NO. R99-1529

A resolution recognizing Ms. Shirley Stuart upon her retirement from service with the Metropolitan Public School System.

WHEREAS, on January 1, 1999, Ms. Shirley Stuart retired after completing 25 years of dedicated and faithful service as a bus driver with the Metropolitan Public School System; and

WHEREAS, before becoming a full-time bus driver, Ms. Stuart served two years as a substitute driver, serving Whites Creek High, Jerry Baxter Middle, and Bellshire Elementary Schools; and

WHEREAS, during her tenure Ms. Stuart was a very competent and capable bus driver, thus she received a 21-year Safe Driving Award; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Stuart was an outstanding employee and she enjoyed her job, coming to know and befriend the students she transported, and serving them to the best of her ability; and

WHEREAS, school bus drivers have a tremendous responsibility, not only transporting students to and from schools safely, but the drivers must also maintain discipline and provide a safe and friendly environment; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Ms. Shirley Stuart upon her retirement from service with the Metropolitan Public School System.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as honoring Ms. Shirley Stuart upon her retirement from service following 25 years of dedicated service for the Metropolitan Public School System.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to Ms. Shirley Stuart.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
