RESOLUTION NO. R99-1526

A resolution recognizing Mr. Jack Biggs and Metro Police Officer Russell G. Thompson for their outstanding service to the community.

WHEREAS, on March 19, 1999, Mr. Jack Biggs witnessed three teens breaking and entering the rear of a building near his home; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Biggs, being an alert and concerned community citizen, wrote down the vandals’ vehicle description and license number and alerted Metro Police Officer Russell G. Thompson, who happened to be on neighborhood patrol in the area; and

WHEREAS, Officer Thompson proceeded to use the information he was given to apprehend the perpetrators; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize and honor Mr. Jack Biggs and Police Officer Russell G. Thompson for their outstanding service to the community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as honoring Mr. Jack Biggs and Metro Police Officer Russell G. Thompson for their outstanding service to the community.

SECTION 2. The Metropolitan Council Staff Office is directed to prepare a certificate to be presented to Mr. Jack Biggs and the Officer Russell G. Thompson.

SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
