ADOPTED 04/06/1999
RESOLUTION NO. R99-1482
A resolution requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to enact legislation that would permit operation of the Metro Animal Control facility and the animal control function outside of the Metropolitan Health Department.
WHEREAS, presently, state law requires that the Animal Control facility and the animal control function be operated by the Metropolitan Board of Health; and
WHEREAS, it may be more efficient and appropriate to allow such programs to be operated either in another department of the government, or to create a stand alone department; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan County Council feels that it is fitting and proper that legislation be enacted to allow the Council to determine where such programs should be provided within the Metropolitan Government.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Davidson County Delegation to the Tennessee General Assembly to enact legislation that would permit operation of the Metro Animal Control facility and the Animal Control Program outside of the Metropolitan Health Department.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
