RESOLUTION NO. R99-1473

A resolution approving a contract for collection and disposal of solid waste by and between the Metropolitan Government and Browning-Ferris Industries, Inc.

Whereas, Section 4.12.220 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws requires that any contract for collection, hauling and disposal of solid waste be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council receiving twenty-one votes; and

Whereas, acting through the normal procurement procedure the Purchasing Agent has selected Browning-Ferris Industries, Inc., to haul and dispose of solid waste in the urban services district; and, whereas, the contract will exceed $500,000 annually.

Therefore be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the contract by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Browning-Ferris Industries, Inc., for hauling and disposal of residential refuse from collection area 7 and part of area 6 in the urban services district and for commitment of 800 tons of refuse per week from other sources at Nashville Thermal Transfer Plant for a term of five (5) years is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
